| Question:
How to go about my DCServer (which doesn't currently have a USB port) configured to work with TPG's broadband service? |
| Answer: |
Your DCServer will need a second ethernet card which is connected to the ADSL modem. From here a telephone line that has been conditioned for ADSL will be connected to the ADSL modem.
The phone line can be split with a normal RJ12 splitter, but we will need to put an inline filter between the conditioned line and any other equipment that doesnt handle ADSL (analog modem, fax, telephone).
This will allow a modem/fax/telephone to be connected to the same line as the ADSL modem.
To handle your domain we will need your registry key, which we most likely have. We usually handle this, and it takes up to 48 hours to actually go through once we start the process.
We dont use USB modems since the drivers for them are closed source and hard to roll into our linux kernel.
We have many clients using TPG ADSL. The only downtime that occurs is when we need to shutdown the server to install a new ethernet card.
